Even better on a repeat viewing. Some nuance I'd missed came out this time around. Helps if you know some of the kiwi references, but there are some standout performances. Greg Johnson steals the show, but Don Linden is superb too. Ray Woolf too. And yes, of course, Rawiri is amazing.
Lovely story, some really heartfelt moments and an emotional punch - and laugh out loud funny in a few places too. I really like it a lot.
Wonderful 2-hour instalment of the radio show This American Life, performed live in front of a theatre audience, broadcast live to cinemas around the world and filmed for posterity. A good half of the show is unbroadcastable on the radio. Not because it's obscene, of course, but because it's so amazingly visual - while still retaining the aesthetic and approach that makes TAL the best radio series ever made.
To say that David Sedaris provided the film's weakest moment is high praise. I absolutely love David Sedaris.
