The Addiction 1995
I was considering while watching The Addiction whether or not I preferred it over Nadja, another 1990s Vampire-themed film shot in gritty black and white and filmed in the same Manhattan neighborhoods. I’ve decided The Addiction is the better of the two. They’re both hipster renditions of the Vampire genre but The Addiction is more memorable and coherent as a work of art. I recently boxed up my collection of books by Richard Rorty and put them in storage, which is a big regret, because one of them had an excellent essay on the theme of cruelty explored in Nabokov’s Lolita.
