As a fan of the original book series and not having read this one before seeing this in theater, I went in blind. I had no idea this would be about Snow’s journey to power. Humanizing Snow was not something I was originally open to, however, the movie does a great job at making him one of our protagonist for large parts of the film. He won this hunger games, not Lucy.
Zegler, Blyth and Davis were the standouts in this film for me. 8/10 and a really strong prequel movie.

Miyazaki has done it again. Dealing with the failings of your ancestors, grief, loss, love, new beginnings and being content with the way things are. This was an incredibly spiritual and profoundly introspective movie. Wonderfully weird and childlike in a way only Studio Ghibli can do. Wata wata forever.
