i was a little worried towards the beginning that this would simply be a “Very Special Degrassi,” but the film really amps up the drama. the two leads are incredible and it’s gut wrenching. well put together as a whole.

Ash Is Purest White 2018
this wasn’t what i was expecting it to be. but it’s a really slow, serious relationship drama across several years. does a great job of feeling expansive and intimate at the same time. fun use of haircuts and cellphones to differentiate between acts/periods.
Also the third Liao Fan rural chinese crime film i’ve seen where there is unexpected public dancing. and the second that has a tiger in it.
