L'Argent 1983
A style so distant and impersonal but at some point it did manage to make me care which is some kind of achievement. This has to be at least partly the reason why these 90 minutes feels like 2.5 hours (which is not a criticism so much as merely an observation - sometimes it's nice to feel time; enjoyment can make time pass quickly but it's not a defining factor). Performances are so rote it feels almost ritualistic probably serving some purpose but is lost on me.

Paradise: Love 2012
The entirety of this film could be summed up in a typical newspaper headline: "White German Women Travel to Kenya for Sex Holiday".
Done.
Fin.Nothing else happens. Sure, the photography is lovely; the performances are great, but we sit thru countless extensive awkward and racially insensitive scenes only for our naïve protagonist to learn nothing and suffer no repercussions for her shortcomings.
But maybe that's the point? I don't know.
If that is the point, it sucks.
If that wasn't, then whatever it was meant to be was completely lost on me.Translated from by
