There's a moment in this film where Tom looks Glenn Humplik in the eye and you can see tears well up in his face as he says "I turned into a different person...I can remember being that guy" while talking about his cancer battle and accompanying Drew to the Oscars. We didn't know it at the time and it seems he didn't either but that moment cleaved away the Tom we loved from the Tom of today (whom we still…

Still not convinced that I didn't write this movie at 17 years old and then somehow memory-holed myself MIB-style.

There are lots of films on this subject matter but few from an unapologetically bold 18 year-old girl's pov. Is it a perfect film to an outsider? Obviously not. But to people who have been in this situation? My God yes, it is. Is the controversy the portrayal of a young woman's desire? Because it happens and sometimes it happens like this. Sorry to those who disapprove – this movie isn't for you.

How does one not only survive but maintain a faith? How is it possible to wake up each day and not have a complete moral and spiritual breakdown? It isn't -- not if you're really paying attention.

I love this movie but it's a "questions" movie in the sense that there are so many questions:
    1. How did this make it all the way through production & distribution?
    2. Who is the intended audience?
    3. How did they manage to cast Michael Caine in the titular role?
    4. How/why did they assemble the superb A+ '90s supporting cast (Katie Holmes, Jason Biggs, Seth Green)? Is this supposed to mean something??
    5. What kind of sociopolitical commentary are the…
