extremely impressive craft, especially the sound. millennial coming of age films – especially those truly about flawed boomer parents – hit close to home in a way i know isn't unique to me, but man did this make me feel like it.
though beautiful and heartbreaking, this was just a little too sparse for me. especially given how good the performances are, i wish there was a bit more plot to cling to.
i guess i don't get the appeal of this. an eye rollingly bad screenplay made worse by the director giving his no talent daughter like 40 minutes of screen time + 4 songs in the first hour.
hartnett was fun i guess but the reviews calling this fun and blockbustery don't make much sense to me. i just thought it was a neat idea stupidly executed between screenplay and acting idk

holy shit. pacing, acting, sound, score, tension, the fucking trinity test. and the POV! where the fuck did nolan being a principled dove and critiquing the military industrial complex and right wing political brinkmanship come from?
this is easily nolan's best movie. don't ever sleep on bobby o!
