Labyrinth of Dreams 1997
Wow, Just Wow! What a find, beautiful visuals, an other worldly score and terrifying trains go screeching through Gakuryu iishis dreamscape with style in this tale of dark allure. Slow paced visuals completely solidified by exceptional writing and a sense of dread has this climbing to my favorite of his work.
5/5 I would go as far as saying masterpiece.
Ps. Who knew trains could be this creepyTranslated from by -
Maborosi 1995
My first Kore-eda film experience has left me completely floored, I can't fully explain how sad and intimate this film is. Life is full of small terror and uncertainties and this movie encapsulates them nearly perfectly, but also shows brief moments of simple joys. I'd argue there isnt a single bad shot in this entire film, from dimly lit industrial alley's to bright seaside cottages, its all stunning. Its score is wonderful and
the story is so honest and intimate…Translated from by
