Hereditary 2018
I love this movie and it's also one that I will never watch again. This movie stayed with me for days after I watched it and even 7 years later I remember it so vividly. I've watched video essay upon video essay about this movie and still find things to be impressed by. I hate the way it made me feel but also the fact that it was capable of making me feel anything that significant is pretty spectacular.

Holy cow. This totally blew my expectations out of the water. I knew Cynthia Erivo would be phenomenal no matter what but I had my doubts about Ariana Grande. She was stellar though. There were definitely parts where I wanted more fullness to her top range but she's not trained in opera so that's not a realistic expectation. Also holy cow it's long. But the movie is so fun that, if you're really into Wicked, you hardly even notice. This is exactly how a musical should be adapted into a movie. I'm so glad the theater girlies finally have a win in the movie adaptation category.
