a coming-of-age drama about using visual media to re-contextualize our memories, relationships, and identity

can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
why can’t we give love that one more chance?

  • Mickey 17

    Mickey 17

    ★★★½

a sci fi comedy about the devaluation of human lives by those who can afford to fail upwards

“it’s ok for me to be happy.”

( egomaniacal technocrat Mark Ruffalo can afford to be an idiot asshole because he holds all the cards of capital.

scientists on the ship, gilded by their occupation, are emboldened by their status as saviors of humanity and thus are comfortable sacrificing working people in service of Ruffalo’s [genocidal] dream.

meanwhile, pitiful laborers like Mickey become disposable in the technological advancement towards an ethnostate helmed by the person who is most out-of-touch with reality by nature of his wealth. )

a romantic thriller (comedy) about the mega-rich and the desperate people who exist vulnerable to their whim

( orrr maybe it’s about the perversion of love by wealth and status.

anyways, i enjoyed this movie, but the Substance and Demi were better )

    Videodrome

    ★★★★

a body horror about our increasingly dissociative and overstimulating world wherein visual media have altered our very perception of reality

    have  you  been  hallucinating  lately?

    ( this movie rules.

today, content similar to the dehumanizing visuals depicted in Max’s Videodrome consumption is instantly accessible.

more than ever do we succumb to behaviors and emotions triggered by seductive information we view on screens.

over 40 years later, and i’m afraid we’ve all slowly turned into videoflesh actors in one way or another… )
