  I KNOW this movie doesn't deserve 3.5 stars and yet it somehow does. So much going on and yet so little. Not once did it feel like the freedom of a small Brazilian town hang in the balance and yet I was happily along for the ride, monkey humping notwithstanding.   I'm just glad Nicolas Cage got to do another movie in his real accent. Too many times I've seen him struggle to sound like a real person when I know in reality that's simply not the real Nicolas. Great hair too! Oh and I guess John Cusack is there too.. but he drives a car? All I know is everyone was great except when they weren't and overall I had a good time and then had a good sleep after the movie. Goodnight!

  Action: The Good Kind. Dont think for a second you can click play on this and then go pop some popcorn while the movie gets through the setup. There is no 'setup'. The setup is the action. It's genius. And while obviously this movie is praised for its fight choreography, cinematography, and claustrophobic set pieces I also think the brilliant way they retroactively weave the thin but effective story elements into the narrative is worthy of mention as well.   Not a great era for these types of action thrillers and Travolta isn't doing much to help the movie's case. I'm left with nothing but the betrayal of my former self who enjoyed this movie when it came out and the overwhelming urge to clean my ears.
