  maybe this is trite but wong kar-wai has left me thinking of life as if we are each a billiard ball (or maybe a marble?) launched forward at our outset. the earth is so vast that most of the time we just drift safely past one another without ever looking up, fixated on our own inertia. then there are those precious instances where we crash head-on into one another, or perhaps come very close to it—barely brushing against, to generate a brief electricity. its only in those moments we realize, a second too late, how fast we’re moving
