Ultimately, I really liked this film. Devastating tear jerker with brilliant performances from all but particularly Andrew Scott and Claire Foy. Brings to mind Andrew Haigh’s Weekend and Paul Mescal’s performance / character in Aftersun.

Civil War 2024
It meanders through various cinematic set pieces that don’t logically hold together. Some of these are great - E.g Jesse Plemons scene, but most are empty because we’re literally never told what’s going on and the protagonists are mostly unlikeable. ‘Civil War’ backdrop just feels like a marketing tactic to guarantee box office success.
Kept reminding me of how great a film Children of Men is. It’s also a road movie set in a dystopian near-future that uses real world photojournalistic imagery to much greater effect.Translated from by
