  undeniable greatness. only thing that could make it better is more aesthetic ties to the gnosticism and maybe hoodoo stuff. otherwise the occult imagery is flawless. this movie feels like an esoteric breakdown of the historicalization of occult knowledge that the bible co-opts. complete with a christ-looking main character

  I’m already seein’ these 20th century minded cornballs in the youtube comments callin this shit “tiktok aesthetics”. If anything, such dismissive reaction is why this was probably made in the first place. I feel that the omnipresent hauntology of 21st century pop culture is probably what fuels Korine to make such drastic stylistic choices in his current work.
