I'm not the biggest fan of Jodie Foster or Kristen Stewart in the world, but this movie is one of few exceptions I can watch. Mainly because of David Fincher and Forest Whitaker. This definitely an homage to Hitchcock thrillers and the most under appreciated in Fincher's body of work, maybe close to his participation with Alien 3. I feel connected with Whitaker's character who is stuck in the middle between Jared Leto who's trying to abscond his grandfather's trust fund while Foster and Stewart move into their new home.

This is The Shining at sea, I've seen Rob Eggers previous film The VVitch, which I very much liked, both movies are not the same at all. I like Orson Welles, but I never really liked Citzen Kane, it's a great movie for it's technical achievement. I feel like this movie shouldn't be on the AFI's top number 1 out of 100 films of all time. I feel like it's more subjective than give it an official stamp that this is the greatest movie ever. This is a big fuck you letter to William Randolph Hierst, to which this movie is based off of. I could list other better Orson Welles productions and performances than Citizen Kane.
