The Postman 1997
I avoided this film when it was released and I can see why it wasn't taken seriously. It's really good, though. I loved the earnest patriotism and the post-apocalyptic/ western genre mashup. Costner is in full movie star mode. Add a surprise Wilbury appearance and you've got some weird magic going on.

Sluggish, dishwater-dingy sci-fi that feels more in line with Gilliam's THE ZERO THEOREM than the classic '90s Jeunet & Caro films it wants to echo. The fatal flaw is Ruffalo and Collette, who aim for Strangelove but end up in the third grade. They murder more scenes than the script murders Mickeys.
