Incredible re-imagining of the original!
This is probably the best use case for the term "spiritual successor". Like the 1950s original, this is a serious movie about the nuclear disaster that struck Japan just a few years before the movie's release: Fukushima.
The frantic pace, too many characters, and story that seems to be going nowhere VERY FAST perfectly captures the feeling of a cumbersome bureaucracy, failing to get anything done. The monster is not predatory, or animalistic, or intelligent.…Translated from by -
