it only fully clicked with me on 2nd watch but this is absolutely a kaiju film

a rust belt david and goliath with a vaguely populist (not exactly left-wing but still) view of workers solidarity preserving life against the apathy of bureaucrats. legitimately unfathomable helicopter work and utterly arresting sound design. the emotional side plots are give or take but otherwise, wow what a note to end a career on.

legit gorgeous imagery of rural pennsylvania (and ohio) too. can't believe im gonna be living out there in a month lmfao

actually adorable and infectiously sincere. FAR more than i ever expected from a made-for-TV cartoon network flick, even being the scooby doo autist that i am.

daphne and velma solve the mystery of youth hyper-exploitation in a technocratic freak school. love the insane argento-tier lighting and excessive digital effects. love the (in my gf's words) PC music ass soundtrack. love daphne's whole bit as a zoomer art bell while velma is enid coleslaw (among my fav characterizations of both btw).

if you have any kind of affection for goofy kids media, this is among the best.
