    mostly made up of theoretically cool but entirely unmotivated visuals that lose all impact in the very shallow context of the film and usually just work to make the action more stilted. loved the look of the club. liked the idea of there being three different levels to their reality, but this would matter to me more if i knew who any of the characters were. watched the extended cut and orla was telling me as it went what scenes…

    banger! bit of john carpenter bit of george miller (probably a lot of george a romero but i’ve never seen any of his films so can’t comment) and a nice chunk of cod nazi zombies. forgot how disgusting some of it is. thank fuck this never ended up being a cloverfield movie.

    lovely big sets with great prop design, feels extremely lived in, almost pacific rim-esque. love that the mickey printer works like a real printer, he’ll get pulled back a bit then pushed out again, just a really funny detail. mostly very funny, great concept handled nicely. robert pattinson is class, never felt any doubt about either of his performances, both very distinct but he does tie them together in some nice ways and i can fully believe in his kind…

    knew i was going to love this but didn’t realise how much i would. truly spent the whole time pishing myself laughing or slack jawed. cannot believe some of the stuff they did in this, not even in the sense that i was impressed by the stunts (though i absolutely was) but in the sense that every action scene had so many elements and so many layers that constantly increased the tension while also escalating the comedy. insane chaotic nonsense.…
