From the very first shot of the movie I was captivated, the story is so deeply personal and psychological, it uses space as just the means of which to tell a story with such a powerful message. It's different from any other space movie I've ever seen.

Oh, and don't even get me on the cinematography, it was some of the best I've ever seen. (Update, just checked who did it, makes sense. Frick you Hoytema, you gorgeous son of a gun)

I saw the trailer and almost cried... I watched the movie and I cried. If watching a movie that has heart, that focuses on characters, and on the beauty of life is not your cup of tea, then don't watch this. Every shot was perfect, and the protagonist executed. I left the movie thinking (and still am) about it and it's message.

Now is now, then is then.

I was definitely not expecting to see what I watched.

I'm not sure how to feel about it. Unique, for sure. I liked their approach to it, I've seen dozens of alien movies where the theme is usually the same, domination, conquest, genocide, etc. Instead they move the focus to a kind of humanitarian point of view and make it feel immersive by making it seem like you're watching the news. It was really good in that sense, but It…
