The Incredible Mr. Limpet 1964
Five minutes into this movie and I was hooked. A man who is truly obsessed with fish wishes he were one and then it happens. What follows is the story of how an ordinary fish with bad sight becomes a war hero. Along the way we get a romance with Ladyfish, to whom Mr. Limpet has to explain astigmatism, some underwater battle, and a surprising number of swastikas. This movie seems to take itself completely seriously, which is really what took it from good to great for me.

The Abyss 1989
The movie was great and I absolutely hated it. Unfortunately my crippling fear of the ocean kept me from enjoying this film, but even through the panic attacks I could tell it was well made and well acted. One thumb up and one thumb way way down. I’d recommend it to anyone and I will certainly never watch it again.
