Thoroughly entertaining and like-able (annoyingly likeable). I did laugh a lot. I was about to give 3.5 stars but I started rewatching it pretty much after I finished so it deserves 4 ughh. Since it’s a comedy, it gets away with some glaring holes in the logic of the time loop and it’s lazy quantum “explanation” of what the characters are experiencing. I honestly wish it were longer so that the romance element could be developed with more depth. It turned into a cheese fest real fast. Also wait...when did Andy Samberg become zaddy??? 😛

For the first 20 minutes I found myself getting antsy, wanting something to just happen already. But slowly I eased into the cadence of the film and started to really appreciate the small emotional moments between the two characters. It worked that she withheld the “explosion”—such restrained and precise storytelling.

I love how Charlotte sees the world and chooses to show it to us. One of my favorite visual moments was watching the polaroid develop as the dialogue unfolded offscreen.

A really strong first feature. The emotions stuck with me for the days following and that’s a huge win for a filmmaker.
