transhumanism is the antithesis of the overlap between patriarchy & capitalism. surrogacy & pornography encapsulate the decimation of sex and sexuality. even alone we internalise the male gaze. women’s emancipation relies on a total deconstruction of self-held social-constructs.
i’m surprised a male director would subvert norms the way depicted. the parody of the belief that women need men else they become cat-obsessed spinsters & the symbolic use of the horror of pregnancy made the film really profound.
the 70’s feminist movement certainly inspired the commentary of this film, and in the 21st century i think these themes are more important than ever.
