An unexpectedly enjoyable film. Joaquin Phoenix was exceptional and deserves every accolade he receives.
The concept is not entirely original however the style of the film managed to overcome this. Spike Jonze's attention to detail and the inclusion of numerous future technologies brought the film to life.
Spike does an 'ok' job of introducing technological concepts that are believable, and then attempting to push the viewer's suspension of disbelief.
My major criticism would be that more could have been done to explain the nature of the artificial intelligence, thus making the scenario more engaging and believable.
A neat film with some clever direction.
Visually stunning, and thrilling to the end.
A spectacular performance by Sandra Bullock, juxtaposed with some overacting by Clooney.
I was pleasantly surprised at the spread of content covered, and I felt for Sandra's character.
However, I was disappointed with the blatant 3D scenes, especially one involving Clooney...
Finally, an interesting commentary on the pace of life on Earth, and its effect on the human psyche.
A decent revenge flick, however I felt that the side plot relationships were more interesting that the main plot line.
Some superb acting by Zoe Saldana, and Casey Affleck portrayed enough sincerity to engage me.
Christian Bale was let down by some poor dialogue, or lack thereof towards the end of the film.
I feel like the director (Scott Cooper) would be more suited to directing drama without the thriller tag. This was dark, but not enough focus on the areas that were most interesting.
A very decent attempt at emotional leverage.
Michael B Jordan and Melonie Diaz are solid and I almost cared for them, however I feel like the inexperience of the director was evident through the blatant attempts to manipulate the audience.
I can imagine Coogler (director) thinking "I'll just balance out this good deed with this emotional outburst". The build up of the protagonist felt artificial, and the sceptic in me rejected it.
Not a terrible movie by any respect, but it could have been more.
