Sitting through this film is what I imagine purgatory to feel like.

The director talked about how she didn’t have a set script or dialogue and how she just came up with everything on the spot.
I could tell, 80% of the film was Tilda walking through the garden with her dog and muttering “oh darling” in a stupid British accent. You can’t just rely on pretty scenery and good acting to make a movie. Lazy filmmaking, no wonder this took her 20 years to make. 20 years and not one script??

There is a dualism inside Woody about his work. ‘Should I aim for realism? Or just useless jokes? How do I decide what to do? Does the public decide for me? Do I need an almost “metaphysical” sense in order to make something?’ The whole film represents this dualism- it is not a realistic movie neither a funny one. The funny scenes are working against the serious ones, and vice versa.
