The cloning premise was interesting and I was looking forward to the thematic exploration and kooky clone hijinx, but it doesn't really lead up to anything.
So much time is dedicated to explaining the process of cloning and then the crime of Multiples, so when Mickey 17 meets Mickey 18, you expect all hell to break loose, but there really aren't any direct consequences. Once they're discovered, the Mickeys attempt to assassinate the Leader, and their punishment is more related…
40 minutes in and the titular Gold has only been mentioned once, and I'm still not sure where the plot is going. The characters aren't interesting enough to keep me invested. I do really like the production itself though. The camerawork, editing, set design, etc all look fantastic.
6 year old me: "The nightmare clown is so scary!"
26 year old me: "That one flower in the forest was so happy to finally find another of its kind, that it didn't have to feel alone anymore. But once it found out the other flower was simply an illusion, it felt lonelier than ever. The flower lost its will to live and died.
Also, the nightmare clown is so scary!"

You only taught me "How to Ask for a Date" and "How to Say Goodnight", what about the actual date itself?
