THOSE OPENING CREDITS my god, I actually got chills. The iconic military-esque theme, the agonizing roars from the kaiju, As a big Godzilla fan, it’s criminal it took me this long to see the one that began it all.

Lowkey freeform jazz in movie form.

Cinematography was on point, I couldn’t get enough of the bloom effect they went for, and the slow burn pacing worked brilliantly in its favor. Dinner tables scenes went so crazy I want to rewatch just for them alone!

    What is going on?!

That is the question. Asked many times over and over in this film, and asked by every living soul on this planet. A Serious Man expertly pinpoints its lens on the chaos of life, and our constant and unfulfilled desire to answer WHY. Why do bad things happen to me? What did I do wrong? What is the meaning behind it? As badly as we want there to be a resolution to our problems and find the true answer, the reality is, it is simply not there. And in the end of it all, sometimes you simply have to help yourself.
