Had a fantastic time watching this. 

Cool to watch animation that doesn’t necessarily feel like it’s been made specifically for kids. Maybe makes sense as it’s definitely about parenting which kids can’t exactly relate to. 

The best bit was about 3 minutes in and it was the crab bit.

It’s actually really rare to see a formally experimental/brave film which isn’t also wankery or up its own arse and this film is that.

It manages to be interesting and unusual (I LOVE the archive in it so much), while still maintaining a really sincere emotional core and not sacrificing the feels at all. 

Also props to those actors cos acting to a camera like that cannot be easy !!!

Jodie is not just a Tall Girl, she is also a Toxic Girl. 

Also who has a pre-school-musical-boat-party. It’s not Magaluf, guys. 

Favourite line: ‘just doing my bit to support the arts.’ Me too. In campaigning to have this film removed from existence.

This is heavy hitting stuff (which I wish I’d known before going in) but my god is it marvellous. I have never felt so many emotions so strongly within the space of one film. I thought the anti-western style worked PERFECTLY and I’m maybe just a little in love with Leah Purcell now.. 

P.s. those shots of rural Australia were sumptuous as hell
