I’m going to preface this review with the fact that I loved this movie. Apparently my take is controversial, but I did not need the 3rd act. It turned the movie into a silly movie, which is fine, but I liked the earlier vibe better. I’m here for camp, I’m here for body horror, I’m here for blood but it just didn’t need it. Felt like two movies to me and I want both versions to be honest. Anyway - the real winners here were Margaret Qualley and Demi Moore - two total babes giving great performances.

Firebrand 2023
I’m a sucker for a period piece, especially around English Tudor era. One of the few stories I’ve not heard, it was refreshing to see something new. Jude Law was maybe the most convincing disgusting king I’ve seen, which was honestly a shock. Loved watching him do some actual acting and not just be a face.

One of my top 4 - and I’m not usually an action movie girlie. This movie is so absurd but it is brilliant filmmaking in that you are bought in the whole time. This movie makes you accept the premise with no questions. John Travolta playing Nic Cage playing John Travolta never gets old for me. He’s the best sleaze with a ridiculous chin.

Whew - Kieran Culkin - love this guy. Everything was spot on in this from the Chopin to the editing. It was pitch perfect for me. Delightfully uncomfortable in places while also tugging at the heartstrings.
