Honestly I had to sit and digest this one for 5 minutes… such an intimate look on family life and how parents’ decisions affect their children. The beauty of it lies in the way you see what is coming but when the inevitable finally arrives it still shocks you to the core. Had to take a few tissues and get a big hug…
I think everyone can relate to feeling that life can get a bit too much sometimes and you just need a break. That, and the perfectly implemented art of storytelling, is what made this film so raw and jarring to watch.
Another one that took it’s time to get into but was totally worth it. I got the impression both father and daughter had an image of each other, but that didn’t match up with the person they were becoming. As they get to know each other again, so do we. Most striking were the seamless edits and combination of vcr and film images. The summer vibes reminded me of cmbyn though… also with the way the story is told through seemingly random snippets of a summer holiday…
