  Monkey Man 2024

  The writing is imperfect but there is something polarizing about this film for me. Usually I find weak writing kills a film but Monkey Man has got so much heart and vision that it makes up for it. It finds its voice as it goes along and where the story falls flat, emotion runs incredibly deep. The action scenes are emotionally driven which had me thoroughly invested. It’s obvious Patel loves film and that passion and artistry was moving to watch. Looking forward to seeing what he does next.

  The entire experience of this film feels like when your friend invites you to a party and they way overhype it promising you the most wild night out ever but when you get there only ten people showed up, no one is dancing to the EDM beats of a 40 year old DJ in the corner who has eyes that have lost the will to live, and the bartender is pouring shots for an attendee's underage girlfriend.
