i don’t watch many films set in the post war era so idk if this is common, but the way they portrayed the father as having actual emotions, and experiencing ptsd from the near 12 YEARS he spent in russia is very important to me. AND THEN to show how that impacted how he interacted with his children, how being a soldier turned him into a strict, traumatised man, and how he then grows and learns to treat his children…
