I wonder if this would have been higher after the first I saw it. But this is the 10th time and compared to all other superhero movies and even some X-men entires, this isn’t as strong for me.
Prof. X and Magneto are iconic and seeing Hugh as Wolverine for the first time are what stand out.
Interesting to watch earlier Nolan to see how he is playing with elements and themes he’ll use later on.
This movie got better as it went. I only really remembered the end so I WAS watching closely but wasn’t super impressed. There’s many a reason I didn’t remember it that well. I did like how he played with time but Oppenheimer is a much better example of it.
Watching this along with The Big Picture’s Top 25 movies of the last 25 years.
It was very good and well done. Has me thinking about it afterwards but not in a personally reflective way. Not the kind of movie that I flat out love.
Tilda was a standout performance for me. That ending scene is worth the whole movie.
I have always heard this was a “classic” and everyone was right. I was really into this movie, despite it being a movie of its time. Ford is a much better Jack Ryan but Baldwin’s youth works well here. Scott Glenn was my favorite though.
