I know this movie got a lot more press than its predecessors but it is also a much better film. The increased production value, an actual hero well played by Lauren LaVera, an excellent climax in a haunted house attraction and still David Howard Thornton as a terrifying killer. It might lack some of the suspense of the original but it makes up for it in pretty much every other aspect.
I could really see this be remade in the A24 mode. Fascinating concept.
A fun gay romp (in every sense of the word). Great comedy of manners with several truly laugh out loud moments, which for a movie from 1933 is no easy achievement. Come for the great Coward esque ensemble but stay to Tyrell Davis’ brief turn as Ernest, 5 minutes before the picture ends.
