  Going to see this film, I was pretty unfamiliar with the man or his music.   First 5/5 of 2025 and early contender for my yearly film retrospective!! 

  So many lovely and interesting things about this film. 
  Beside the obviously ever-charismatic Paul Newman (who I'd like to be in the next life - and in this one as well) the unexpected highlight for me was Bert Gordon, the gangster, played by George C. Scott. Steals the show every time he shows up and delivers a wonderful range in his performance.
