The Florida Project 2017
Unfortunately, a large portion of Orlando’s population lives like this.
There are parts of me as a Florida and once Orlando native that grasps this film on an intrinsic level. As a result, its narrative doesn't strike me as profound, but rather a sobering depiction of those children's realities.
It is a harrowing, infuriating truth to understand those children's lives, especially when encountering characters like Hailey, who squander opportunities to improve their child’s life until it's too late.
If I were further removed from witnessing this experience IRL, I might regard the film with deeper reverence.
