  Wow, beautiful. The chemistry between Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Nelson felt so genuine. Incredible performance by both, and Gaby Hoffmann as well.

  Related a lot to Joaquin’s character Johnny. Love asking questions and have a harder time when roles are reversed. But interacting with authentic people, children or adults, who press in is one ticket to softening. Felt attacked when Johnny is recording himself in New York and refers to 9 yo Jesse in saying, “I think he’s spoiled. Or I am.”

  Anyway, ready for aunt duties whenever my siblings decide to make me one.

  I am wrecked. The subtlety in portraying grief, love, care, humor and natural beauty was GRIPPING.

  
  ALSO watching Derry Girls will never be the same again. The aunt’s voice in this film is the EXACT same as the aunt’s voice in DG pahahah.
