Loneliness, motherhood, regret, the self, figuring things out. All reasons that this has become one of the films about what it means to be human (and a woman) that moved me most deeply and that I often think back to.
I’m too upset to give this a rating.
I will say that that giving birth scene multiplied my pregnancy anxiety to the moon and back. That’s what we like to see. Realistic births. Slayful.
Deeply disturbed by the mature woman with an infantile mind fuckfest and feel like this was missing a trigger warning of child abuse. The fact that her liberation is so sexual in character - because the film shies away from any engagement with emotion - engages with feminist narratives at the bare minimum. This is a film by a man for men in my opinion.
