To start with the obvious - the language is pretty difficult to get into lol. I watched this with subtitles and really had to focus extra hard on what they were on about. Having said that, I do think this is on a high effort - high reward vibe. Shakespeare is such a master of language and there are so many beautiful descriptions and figures of speech. Denzel was great as usual and really captured all the nuances in Macbeth…
Kinda silly and kinda weird but I did mostly enjoy this and thought it had some interesting bits on the themes of desire, ageing, and regret. I didn't find it very scary but it defo had a few really depraved horror moments and bits that make you go 😬😳😯 Also very much reminiscent of Texas Chainsaw Massacre which was fun but unfortunately that is a much better film. In conclusion, old people are scary!!!
You've got mail is one of my fave comfort watches but I actually liked this version of the story even better, so so funny and charming and randomly set in Budapest so I enjoyed seeing all the Hungarian names and signs 👍 How I wish Jimmy Stewart was my pen pal 💔
I don't like biopics that feel like reading a Wikipedia article so it was nice that this focused on just a few years and didn't feel the need to 'explain' Bob Dylan, which also really captured his spirit and desire not to be pigeonholed as an artist. Was very impressed by Timmy, especially his singing !! Lost a star because they didn't play girl from the north country :(
