The Zone of Interest 2023
The message was clear throughout the film through both word and visual. The way the set made you feel comforted by the beauty of nature and the joyfulness of the home mixed with the unsettling sounds of both the concentration camps and the interjecting booms of the music were masterfully orchestrated. The directors goal was met with bringing these almost “other” type of people back down to ordinary men and women. The horror side by side with beauty and every day…

The visual was the only enticing thing about this movie. It set itself up to be something grand but fell flat with the mediocre acting and little to no character development. It was a poorly acted, prettier Star Wars. I really wanted to enjoy this as I love sci-fi & fantasy, but was wildly underwhelmed. The trailer for pt. 2 looks awesome so I am hopeful for a better movie to come.

This film is exceedingly difficult to rate due to its niche genre. Defoe and Pattinson are equally mystifying and play their intended roles exceptionally well. I enjoy a movie that messes with the mind and confuses who is right and wrong. This movie, in my opinion, isn’t meant to be “liked”, it is meant to make you think and disturb you. I think it achieved its goal, but due to the fact that I don’t want to watch it again/need…
