The Brutalist is immense, visually stunning with an incredible score, it is an epic of man’s experience in the American dream turned nightmare. The first half is magnificent, even the first ten minutes alone is some of the best film I have seen in years. I don’t know if it was the AMC popcorn or the dreadful turn of events but I felt sick the second half and didn’t feel it was as good as the first. The intermission was such a welcome surprise, very nostalgic and gave the theater a more communal feel. Absolutely recommend watching in 70mm if you get the opportunity.

The film is ambiguous and moody, where you think a plot is starting to form things just get more muddled and more confusing. Of course one can make assumptions on the specific plot points here but these are never confirmed and barely hinted it. This may take a rewatch…Translated from by -
