this was more interesting and off-kilter than i was expecting. i found a lot of it weirdly amusing. def my fav was alba baptista as the hilariously deranged penny.

there’s also a few cool little filmmaking moments too. like the specific way they did the one minute earlier section and also the ambulance drive-by edit at the end.
i found some of these lines fun:

🐍 cool we got to see the chamber of secrets again. in the book ron and hermione only tell harry about what happens there afterwards.
📽️ it feels like a bunch of this epic finale content is enhanced in the cinematic format. so that was fun.
a really well calibrated addition the ALIEN franchise. it certainly feels like it belongs, introduces an expansion of ideas that worked for me, and also manages to give the right amount of attention to nearly all the other films that came before it. getting all that into a package whilst nicely establishing new characters and crafting thrilling set pieces is a tough act to pull off, but i think Alvarez has done it admirably. i thought the cast and production design were great (i'm a sucker for derelict spaceships/stations though). films like this make me particularly glad i have an OLED Dolby Vision setup.

⛹🏻♂️ VERY fluid animation. and well shot/boarded for capturing the basketball action effectively. i wouldn’t say the artstyle is totally my jam, but it is very well executed.
🙅🏻♂️ ngl for me that injury/substitution drama was kinda nonsense.
🔙 not all the backstory flashbacks landed for me.
🔥 editing of the final play was pretty dope though.
