A stylised take on a rom com, with a sprinkle of indie music to accompany. The more I see of Jack Quaid, the more I appreciate him as an actor. He had great chemistry with his costar which helped to carry the film.

This is Pillow Talk but better, with the main plot concerning equality between the sexes. The set design and costumes are beautiful, Rene and Ewan were made to do a film like this.

So many innuendos to show it's set before the sixties' revolution. But love still brings them together. This film is definitely going to be a rewatch.

Like Bones and All, this film did stick with me hours after it had finished. The amount of suffering the characters have endured, especially Charlie, is a lot to take in. Fraser’s performance is painfully devastating. He tries to reach out to his estranged daughter and constantly apologizing for his friend Liz. When things inevitably gone awry, he gorges to give himself comfort. But this habit has cost him dearly.

I have an idea why some viewers have been critical…

This was the most excited I was for a film coming out this year, Martin McDonagh really delivered. It’s the In Bruges reunion I was hoping for. Colin Farrell’s innocent nature with Brendan Gleeson’s guarded character of wanting to create something that would stand the test of time. There were so many moments that made me laugh while in the cinema, the script was just impeccable.

It was good combination of bleakness and comic brilliance that I was hoping for.
