A Real Pain 2024
A incredibly thought provoking film from Jesse Eisenburg. It explores the themes of connection, community, heritage, religion, mental health, loneliness, family, and much more. But all of this is done in a very low key character driven way. It's got a great central performance from Kieran Culkin. At a brick 90 minutes, it's a must watch.

A really strong entry in the Alien franchise. It acts as a sequel of sorts to the original, but it has its own unique perspective on the world and an atmosphere to match. It captures the tension of the original (which was sorely lacking in Covenant). I was actually really invested in the characters and got sad when some died. The aliens are used effectively.

I've come out of this unsure whether I liked it or not. This film clearly has a wavelength that you need to tune into to enjoy. At some points I was right there with it, but others I couldn't connect to.
I didn't really find it funny, but a few odd lines tickled me. I often find this with this type of American teen comedy, I rarely find them amusing. But there are some decent performances.
