Cher and Nic Cage are so beautiful in this movie it hurts my feelings! I’m so charmed!
I deeply resent any romcom that upholds the sanctity of marriage, Rose should’ve at least fucked that self aware professor, but I understand that that’s simply not what she would do. The strength of this film is how well defined every character is, the function of romance in a story is character study! And I Don’t Care that every character explicitly states each other’s thematic purpose!

Some parts didn’t age well but I’m a sucker for this kind of dynamic and romantic chemistry. The writing is also much more charming than modern Bollywood fare and it doesn’t commit the cardinal romcom sin of making the entire love story just about the male lead’s character development.

Karthik Aryan should go to hell. He will never be as funny or charismatic as Akshay Kumar, despite his best efforts, and I don’t even like that guy. He’s another in a long line of men that only make movies to serve their own ego, with the audacity to also lack competent writers/directors behind him.
The backstory was only intended for shock value and I hope no one is applauding this movie for its sympathetic depiction of a trans woman.…
