There were some weird shifts in vibe that felt a bit clunky and I would have liked more of the time shifting phenomenon/less teen romance but ultimately a nice relaxing watch!

Barbie 2023
Corporate feminism is difficult to swallow!! I think it was trying far too hard to be self aware for a film that is ultimately a glorified advertisement. And surely if gender equality is the ultimate goal then Barbieland shouldn’t have reverted to a reverse patriarchy where Ken lives under the thumb of Barbie? Defo intellectualising it too much but it just feels like it’s constantly gagging for a pat on the back that it doesn’t deserve.
