How's this for a premise? A group of Gen Z'ers find a way to turn demonic possession into a recreational drug. What starts as a goofy black comedy, though, rather quickly descends into the grim, disturbing horror that A24 is known for. I watched this to see if it had any easter eggs or plot & character similarities to the book, which I recently finished. It sadly seems that Max Brooks' fascinating look at world politics in the midst of a zombie apocalypse was barely consulted in the creation of this mess, if at all.
