Real rough first act with a lot of hacky shit, below replacement level filmmaking throughout, but gets downright watchable when they get on the road and start introducing the real preposterous setpieces. Not sure anyone is actually funny outside of Lovitz doing the Lovitz thing, but nice to see Atkinson and Wayne Knight, and everyone pretty much goes for it. Tidy time capsule of an ending, too. Amy Smart is so beautiful and game for anything – totally elevating that helicopter scene where she’s just a broad archetype – you almost wonder if her talent worked against her?

To Live and Die in L.A. 1985
Thought I’d never seen this but I had, in fact, seen it. Nice locations, fun score, but never quite bought into Bill Petersen’s turn. A lot of the gonzo elements felt a bit, I dunno, put-on or obligatory.

SNL50: The Homecoming Concert 2025
This was a solid 4 stars until Cher came out in the fucking outfit, sounded amazing, and it cut to a shot of Kevin Costner with his hands on his head in awe/disbelief. Beautiful series finale for American music.
