  Pain in the ass of a movie, left me angry after watching. had a few technically cool scenes i guess, but the movie was fundamentally wack, dull, and empty. this feels like one of those films that people pretend to like and abstract away meaning from… pretentious art film smh, what a sheer waste of time. what could have been a few minutes of “you remember me” “no actually i don’t” was stretched into a feature length film — this movie sucked wow

  so riveting i felt incline to leave a fr review for the first time. i watched this formerly censored soviet film b/c my dad said he liked it — but it ended up being totally crazy, both philosophically as a tale of nature/nurture and a warning against eugenics, and politically as a powerful allegory against bolshevism. leaves you with a lot to think about… and amazing plot development. the ending will shake u. the film does feel a bit dated but it makes so much sense by the end and a little context wud set everything up for even non-russian watchers, i’d think!!
