It was fine!
Direction: I need Francis Ford Coppola to read like one more book or speak with one more person before putting out a movie like this. Feels very similarly underbaked re:philosophical themes as Asteroid City was. Very “what if…we gave the dreamers a chance?” - and the dream is bubbly non-traditional architecture and a border free society.
I did however love the feeling that it was practically a parody of theater. Like theater kids will either hate this…
Gorgeous horses highlighted by great horse direction. Good funny fight choreography and great commentary on/homage to stunt culture, safety and welfare of people and animals in the film industry, and Jackie Chan’s career.
You would THINK this is a movie for older Jackie Chan fans but it’s ACTUALLY a movie for Asian women who were/are horse girls with dads who couldn’t step up and now their dad need their daughter more than their daughter needs them.
Jackie Chan looks a lot like my dad. I cried like 3 times. 4.5 stars
Maybe the best movie of 2019. Makes you think not just about sound, but about community, and passion, and relationships, and scraping your way back to the past when you know there’s a better future for you. Unbelievably lovely
Sometimes your parents can’t be the parents you want them to be and you just have to figure out how you’re going to handle that. This movie struck me through the heart
